Just call our design team on Freephone 0800 035 1730 for the best advice on designing a slimline wardrobe to precisely fit your small space. Whether it be a single 1 door wardrobe for the bedroom or a tall narrow 2 door hall wardrobe we have a huge choice of elegant made to measure designs.
Design your narrow wardrobe with drawers or shelves, the choice is yours.
Our narrow wardrobes can be made to measure gaps as narrow as 600mm wide and 610mm deep.
The above image shows a neat installation where narrow sliding wardrobe doors have been used to create a hallway storage area for coats, shoes etc. with a custom built interior in oak. The doors use a combination of oak effect panels and mirrored panels, both from our Milano Collection. The framing on the doors is anodised silver aluminium.
In narrow small spaces access to your wardrobe storage will be governed by the available opening once one door has been slid behind the other. For example if the overall width available is 600mm then with a two door system the access area would be approximately 280mm wide. This would be suited to the storage of coats or shoes, however if you wish to store bulky items or include drawers then a one door wardrobe will fit the bill.
As a rule of thumb, ease of access is maintained by maintaining a narrow depth ensuring the width of your wardrobe is not greater than the depth. So if the overall width of your narrow wardrobe is 600mm then we would recommend the wardrobe depth be 610mm deep or less.
If the doors are tall and extremely narrow then we recommend opening and closing the doors by gripping slightly lower down on the frame. This is because the wheels on the bottom of the doors are set close together (compared to a normal width door), gripping and pulling open the doors slightly lower maintains the centre of balance to ensure a smooth slide.
Depending on the space available immediately adjacent to the wardrobe it is possible to have a one door wardrobe that affixes to the front of the opening aperture, with the top and bottom tracks extending to one side or the other. The single door can thereby be slid to the left or right to allow access to the wardrobe space.
